Club statement

THE Club have today released the following statement:

IN relation to the media interest in our latest signing Shaun Tuck we have the following statement which is our one and only comment on the signing.

The manager identified a player that would strengthen the squad. He has conducted a full appraisal of the incoming player and  this attention was anticipated.

As a club we acknowledge the past history of the player as we do with all players we sign and recognize that many a person will disagree with this signing in as much as many will applaud the fact that the authorities have dealt with Shaun’s actions and since that period 24 months ago Shaun has played for both Barnton and Bootle. If every signing he completes attracts such attention then he might as well give the game up.

The manager communicated the potential signing to the players a couple of weeks ago and all were supportive of him playing for the club.

All comments relating to Shaun’s past were made at the time of his actions and from our perspective will remain in the past. The severity of the action is recognized by Shaun and as stated at the time it was out of character.

Players who have played alongside Shaun will tell you his spirit to the team is infectious. Fortunately there were clubs out there who, knowing the player, viewed this as out of character and he got his second chance to focus on what he does best when he signed for Barnton then moved to Bootle and now is furthering his playing career at Colwyn Bay.

His tenacity, high work rate and commitment to his team mates will be closely monitored of course with a focus on scoring goals. Thank You.
